GREEN BAY, WI – (WGBW) Green Bay Packers Give Back awards two Social Justice Impact Grants to two Milwaukee-based organizations. Hope Through Restoration and Project RETURN, Inc. will each get $125,000.
Both organizations serve individuals and families who have experienced incarceration or are at critical junctures in reintegrating into public life. The grants will allow the nonprofits to help their clients gain access or the resources they need and to overcome barriers.
Hope through Restoration
Hope Through Restoration is a group that focuses on housing after incarceration, youth in transition housing, and development programs to help individuals find healthy, clean, and safe environments that provide personal support and positive activities including employment. They say the environment offers hope-filled options and encourages confidence as individuals meet than challenges that come with successful reintegration into families, neighborhoods, and communities.
“We are grateful to the Green Bay Packers Give Back program for engaging with us and supporting us in our mission of personal restoration for individuals that come from challenging situations,” said LT Austin, Co-founder, CEO, and Executive Director of Hope Through Restoration. “Through their restoration, they can, in turn, restore their families, neighborhoods and communities.”
Project REturn
Project RETURN (Returning Ex-incarcerated people to Urban Realities and Neighborhoods), Inc. is a nonprofit that works to help individuals who have experienced incarceration to make a positive, permanent return to their community, family, and friends. Their key programs include job readiness, training, placement, holistic support, and services.
“This grant will have a huge impact on those we serve who are returning from incarceration back to the Greater Milwaukee Area,” said Wendel Hruska, Executive Director of Project RETURN. “With this support, we will be able to provide more assistance with employment, housing, and counseling for those most in need. Thank you to Packers Give Back for making a difference in our community!”
The Social Justice Impact Grants are designed to support social justice and racial equality in Wisconsin.
A component of the Green Bay Packers Give Back program, the grants, combined with other Packers charity endeavors, contribute to a comprehensive Packers charity impact of over $11 million in the past year.
