MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) — Milwaukee election officials are recounting approximately 31,000 absentee ballots, potentially delaying final results by several hours.
The issue was detected at Milwaukee’s Central Count facility Tuesday morning. Officials found that the doors on 13 tabulation machines were not properly sealed.
As a precautionary measure, all affected machines are being reset, and the 31,000 ballots will be re-processed through the equipment.
The recount is likely to push back the release of complete election results in Milwaukee.
